“Second relationship with a Korean player?” Tottenham seeks Neves, a former teammate of Hwang Hee-chan…Competition with Arsenal and Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign former Hwang Hee-chan teammate Leo Neves.
“Neves is hoping to return to the English Premier League (EPL) in January and the door is open for him to join the club on a six-month loan move in the coming weeks,” British outlet TeamTalk reported on Jan. 16 (KST).
Neves is a proven midfielder in the EPL. He has a great ability to build up from the back and has an accurate kick. He can also score goals from mid-range. He’s also a great leader, having captained Wolverhampton.레모나토토 주소
A product of Porto’s youth team, Neves moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2017. Wolverhampton spent €17.9 million ($251 million) to acquire Neves. Neves was a key midfielder for Wolverhampton for six years. In six seasons, Neves scored 30 goals and provided 13 assists in 253 official games for Wolverhampton.
Neves left Wolverhampton in the summer transfer window to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Neves has been a consistent performer in Saudi Arabia. He has two goals and one assist in 17 games for Al-Hilal this season.
Arsenal and Newcastle United are among the EPL clubs interested in signing Neves on loan. Arsenal have a top-notch midfielder in Declan Rice, but they would love to bring in Neves to challenge for the league title. Newcastle will need to find a replacement after Sandro Tonali was suspended for illegal betting. Al Hilal, like Newcastle, is owned by a Saudi sovereign wealth fund (PIF).
This is where Tottenham entered the race for Neves. Tottenham have Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr doing their job in the middle of the park, but both players are likely to miss the Africa Cup of Nations next January. Bissouma is with Mali and Sarr is with Senegal. Their departure would leave only Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park.
Neves played alongside Hwang Hee-chan at Wolverhampton. If he joins Tottenham, he will play alongside Son Heung-min. For Neves, it would be his second time playing with the South Korean. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will succeed in signing Neves.
